We're Family People Who Care
About Your Family

Evergreen Haven was founded on a simple belief: everyone deserves to age with dignity, in a place that feels like home.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€

How Evergreen Haven Came to Be

Bob and Courtney Higginbotham have spent their lives in service to others. Bob dedicated over 30 years to law enforcement, retiring as a Police Captain. Courtney holds a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and has always been drawn to caring for and nurturing others.

When they decided to open Evergreen Haven, it wasn't just a business decision โ€” it was a mission. They saw what large facilities looked like from the inside, heard the stories from families, and knew they could do better. Smaller. Warmer. More personal.

Together, they've been married for 30 years and share a deep commitment to building the kind of place they'd want for their own family members โ€” a real home, with real care.

Our Core Values

Every decision we make โ€” from staffing to daily activities to how we handle difficult moments โ€” flows from these four values.

๐Ÿ’›

Compassion

We lead with empathy. Every interaction, every decision, starts with asking: what would a loving family member do?

๐Ÿค

Integrity

We are honest with families, consistent in our care, and transparent when things are hard. Trust is everything.

โญ

Excellence

We hold ourselves to a high standard โ€” not because we have to, but because your loved one deserves nothing less.

๐ŸŒฟ

Community

Our residents, families, and staff form a genuine community. We look out for each other โ€” inside these walls and beyond.

"To nurture a vibrant community where every resident flourishes through exceptional care, dignity, and respect."

โ€” The Evergreen Haven Mission

Our Registered Nurse

RN โ€” Dementia Care Specialist

Our RN brings extensive dementia care expertise to the team, providing clinical oversight, monitoring subtle changes, and ensuring medical decisions are thoughtful and family-informed.

We're currently hiring for our night shift (8pmโ€“8am). If you're a compassionate caregiver looking for a team that values your work and pays above market rates, we'd love to hear from you.

Small by Design, Not by Default

We chose to limit our census to 9 residents deliberately. That choice changes everything about the quality of care we can provide.

  • Staff know every resident by name, preference, and personality
  • Meal changes made in real-time if a resident doesn't like what's served
  • Activities tailored to individual interests and abilities
  • Subtle changes in behavior or health noticed quickly
  • Genuine relationships form between staff and residents
  • Families are treated as partners, not visitors

Things Families Often Ask About Us

Yes. Evergreen Haven was built specifically for Medicaid recipients with dementia. We do not charge higher rates for private pay โ€” everyone receives the same high level of individualized care regardless of payment source.
We hold a Home+ license through the state of Kansas. This is a residential care license โ€” not a nursing home. We are a home, in every sense of the word, with professional oversight and trained staff.
With a maximum of 9 residents, our staff-to-resident ratio is significantly better than larger facilities. This means your loved one gets real attention โ€” not a rushed check-in.
Absolutely. We welcome family visits and believe family involvement is essential to our residents' wellbeing. We'll work with you to coordinate visits in a way that works best for your loved one's routine.
We currently have one opening available. We do maintain a waitlist for future openings โ€” if you're planning ahead or a spot isn't available right now, contact us and we'll add you to the list so we can reach out as soon as one becomes available.
